Ground Penetrating radar is a geophysical method that uses radar pulses to image the subsurface. This non-destructive method uses electromagnetic pulses in the microwave band of the radio spectrum and detects the reflected signals from those surfaces. Once the services have been located, the location and depth of the services can be marked on the ground or plotted and drawn into either a DWG or PDF drawing with sub-centimetre accuracy using a specialised GPS system.
3d Lidar scanning allows the user to map real life objects with high accuracy that can later be used by engineers, architects & other professionals. Similar to radar , LiDAR scanning measure the time it takes for light to travel from the equipment to the object & back again. Data exported from the equipment in the BIM file format can then be used for design & measurements.
We offer the service of locating and Mapping underground services using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and the electromagnetic principle equipment presented in CAD(DWG) and PDF.
We offer the services of creating highly accurate LiDAR generated 3D Cloud point drawings of large real world objects such as Structures, mining tunnels & land deposits which can be used later for engineering , architectural or maintenance & upgrade work.

"HD GPR supplies the service of locating underground services using Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) and mapping using high accuracy sub centimeter GPS.
"Our mapping surveys can be as simple as a record of services for a residential complex presented in PDF or as detailed as a DWG sub-centimeter drawing including contour lines for engineering purposes
Using Lidar scanning equipment HD GPR creates maps of large object with high accuracy. These maps are presented in BIM files, a file format commonly used by engineers & architects.
Due to the nature of Ground Penetrating radar, G.P.R can only detect a difference in density in the soil below and not what service it is. This can become highly problematic in locating live electrical cable as in some cases there diameters are to small . Conventionally equipment using the electromagnetic principle is used after the initial scan to solve this issue. We have invested in state of the art equipment enabling us to do both at once.
HD GPR conducting a GPR survey at the Netcare Ferncrest Hospital in Rustenburg in order for upgrades to be done on the water back up tanks.
HD GPR conducting a GPR survey before excavation starts at a Rand Water pump station to confirm the depth and location of all underground services.
HD GPR at Vodacom World carrying out a GPR survey to detect potable water services before a leak detection can be conducted.

No Lidar scanning involves the use of taking millions of single reflected beams of light & creating a laser point cloud. These points of colour can be made different colours to help with viewing but will not look like a photo. These scans are then used to help professionals measure objects of large size accurately for design, maintenance & checking of quality.
