GPR scanning & written report

For smaller sites that need services located & marked on the ground, with a written report — without the cost of a full map.

How GPR scanning & a written report works

Services are located with GPR & electromagnetic locating (EML) equipment. Positions, depths & where possible service types are marked on the ground. Images of the markings are taken & added to a written report containing the methodology of how the work was completed.

This suits smaller sites, such as short trench or cable routes, where a full map is not needed. It keeps unnecessary costs down while still giving you clear markings on site & a written record of the work.

When a written report is enough

If you only need a short route scanned — for example a trench or a cable path — markings on the ground plus a written report with photos are often all that is required. There is no mapping step, so you are not paying for drawings you will not use.

For larger sites that need PDF & DWG drawings with sub-centimetre GPS, see GPR scanning & mapping.

Questions about GPR scanning & written reports

Does a GPR scan damage the ground?

No. GPR is non-destructive, so nothing is dug up.

What do I receive after the scan?

Positions, depths & where possible service types are marked on the ground. You also receive a written report with photos of the markings & the methodology of how the work was completed.

When should I choose a written report instead of a map?

Choose a written report for smaller sites, such as short trench or cable routes, where you do not need PDF & DWG drawings. It keeps unnecessary costs down.

Do you still use electromagnetic locating?

Yes. Services are located with GPR & electromagnetic locating (EML) equipment, which helps with thin live electrical cables & tracing services to their corresponding furniture above ground where possible.
